FROM STAGE TO SCREEN: Flight + The Terminal
- RATING:
Pack your bags for a night of unexpected connections, laughter, and a little bit of chaos: we teamed up with Wallis to take you on a journey through the highs and lows of airport life, blending art, comedy, and humanity in an entirely unique way.
Join us for a special event pairing Jonathan Dove’s captivating opera Flight with Steven Spielberg’s heartwarming comedy-drama The Terminal.
Tuesday 22 April, 6.30pm | Piccadilly Cinema, North Adelaide
In Flight, we follow a quirky group of passengers, flight attendants, and an overly stressed airport staff stuck at an airport during a long, unexpected delay. With Dove’s witty music and sharp, comic characters, this comedy opera blends humor, drama, and some surprising moments of heart. Then, we’ll switch gears and enjoy a 35mm screening of Spielberg’s The Terminal, where Tom Hanks’ Viktor Navorski ends up stranded in an airport with no country to call home, turning an everyday location into a stage for an uplifting comedy about resilience, human kindness, and the joy of human connection.
What to Expect
6.30-7.30pm An Engaging Talk: we’ll kick things off with a lively discussion exploring the shared themes of humor, uncertainty, and human connection that tie both Flight and The Terminal together. Expect lively conversation and surprising insights!
7.30-8pm A little break to relax and stock up on all your favourite cinema snacks:
nibbles, candy, popcorn, platters and drinks will be available for purchase at the bar.
8-10.10pm Film Screening: sit back and enjoy a 35mm screening of The Terminal, where we’ll see how a simple airport setting can transform into an arena for personal transformation.
This isn’t your average evening out—whether you’re a fan of opera, movies, or just good stories, this event will give you a fresh perspective on the humorous side of life’s setbacks and challenges. A perfect mix of comedy, insight, and entertainment, this is an event for anyone who’s ever felt stuck in a waiting area (which, let’s face it, is all of us).
Come for the laughs, stay for the stories. We promise you’ll never look at your next layover the same way again!
